On July 4, 2006, the settler Y from the settlement of Susiya came to my tent caravan with two of his friends, they all carried weapons. The caravan is 400 meters from neighboring caravans, which are to the north. They arrived with a tractor hooked up to a water tank of about three cubic meters in order to draw water from our well. They stood by my well, which is a few meters away from my tent at around noon and tried drawing water with the pump. A few of my friends come to help me when they saw the settlers come, and then the settlers went back to the settlement of Susiya.
The following day on July 5 at 8 am, the settler Y brought his flock of sheep over to my herding ground, about 100 meters from my tent. I was herding my flock about 500 meters away from my tent, but I had a good view of what he was doing. I saw him walk over to the tent with a can; he then emptied the can onto the tent and right after that a fire started.
I started running to the tent and when I was 50 meters away, I clearly recognized Y from the settlement of Susiya, I’ve known him for a long time. He started slinging stones at me with a slingshot and I couldn’t get any closer. At this point, friends who saw the fire came. Y collected his flock and disappeared in the direction of the settlement. I didn’t see a weapon.
The tent burned down completely, and besides my personal belongings, there were two additional tents folded up inside the tent. My Ford 500 tractor was parked inside the tent, and the two large back tires were burned.
I immediately went to the Hebron Police and filed a complaint about the tent torching.
